CARE
gets India State Award award for Viklang Vidhya Vihar Disability
Project.
For many of our members
January 2001 was a wake-up call. Call
to do something different and to take action to make the difference.
Taking forward our motto - at CARE we are a TEAM and Together,
Everyone, Achives, More!
The earthquake in India
(state of Gujarat) of 2001 left 20,000 dead and over 130,000
injured. Many of the injured were children who were permanently
disabled. With all our goodwill, wealth and medical technology
available in UK we still do not manage to efficiently look after
our disabled children. If that is the condition in UK think
about a remote corner in India. What chance do these disabled
children have?
CARE began with a few
golfers who decided to take action and do something about it,
and as they say the rest is history. Today we have 60 members
who are committed to the cause and dedicated to playing golf,
thus raising valuable funds for the disabled. So far collectively
they have achieved the following:
- Fund raising and contribution
towards a Disability Centre. (Click
here for more details)
- Fund raising for Juvenile homes
in Tamil Nadu (Click
here for more details)
- Fund raising for the Pakistan's
President Earthquake Relief Fund
- Advanced discussions under way
to start a Buddhist run school in Manali in the Himalayas
- Currently two specific projects
have been brought to our attention
- Mombassa, Kenya
- A disabled centre in Pakistan.
- We will evaluate both these causes
very seriously. Watch this space and more importantly should
you wish to get involved contact us. Thank you.
